The following poem was read at the funeral:

Sunset and Evening Star

Sunset and Evening Star,
And one clear call for me;
And may there be no mourning bar
When I put out to sea.

But moving tide asleep,
Too full for sound and foam
When that which drew from out the deep
Turns again to home.

Twilight and Evening Bell
And after that the dark,
And may there be no sad farewell
When I at last embark.

For though from Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my pilot's face
When I crossed the bar.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wagner of Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Merton West of Chicago Heights, Robert McNeil of Paxton, Mr. and Mrs. Koetke of Buckley, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Arnold and David Arnold of Lamberton, Minn., Roger Arnold of Maryland, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arnold of Owasso, Mich.
