Wilhelm Warnke
Wilhelm Frederick Warnke, son of Wilhelm and Amelia (Tornowski) Warnke, was born in Mueltzhauland, Pocen, Germany, July 24, 1877, and died at Hammond, Indiana, Thursday September 4th, 1924, aged 47 years,1 month and 11 days. He was baptised [sic] in the Lutheran faith in infancy and at the age of 15 years was confirmed in that faith. He came to America in 1889 at the age of twelve years, with his mother and step-father, his father having died five years prior to that time.
In 1900 he married Miss Anna Guderjahn [sic] of North Lyman. She died June 25th of that year. Mr. Warnke lived in this vicinity until 1908 when he moved to Canada where he lived two years. He then went to Hobart, Indiana, where he has lived since. For the past few years he has been working in Gary but still living in Hobart.
The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs. John Repp of Roberts; two brothers and two sisters Rudolph Warnke, of Onarga, Ernest Warnke of Roberts, Mrs. William Kietzman of Gilman and Mrs. S. Ebert of Roberts; two half-brothers and two half-sisters, John Repp of Roberts, August Repp of Canada Mrs. Edward Kietzman and Mrs. Henry Garelts of Roberts. One sister Mrs. Emma Ringeisen died seventeen years ago. He also leaves 29 cousins, 10 nephews and 14 nieces, besides a host of friends who join the bereaved family in sorrow.
The funeral services were held in the Lutheran Church here Sunday afternoon, Rev. Henry Fischer, pastor officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Lyman Cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Edward Ritter of Rennsaulaer, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ritter and children of Hammond, Mrs. Louise Ritter and Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Ritter of Hobart, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ringeisen, Mr. and Mrs. Hedthke, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Kading of Thawville, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Schultz and sons Herbert and Edw., Emil Kietzman Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kietzman and daughter Neva, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lee and son, Mrs. George Roberts and children of Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Warnke and children of Onarga, Miss Laura Ebert and Reuben Ebert of Downs and Misses Mary and Amelia Ebert of Normal.
