Eliza Smith



Eliza McLelvey [sic], daughter of William and Jane (Oarson) McKelvey, was born in the North of Ireland, February 1, 1822.  When she was nine year she with her parents came to America. They arrived at Montreal and went from there to Heuveltan [sic], New York, where she grew to womanhood. Here she was united in marriage to James F. Smith November 8, 1849. To this union were born nine children, six of whom are still living. Two, twins, died in infancy. Mrs. Mary Montague died in April, 1895. Mr. Smith's home was near Prescott, Canada, and after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Smith lived there for ten years. In 1859, they came to Ford county, Illinois, and settled on a farm three miles north of where Roberts is now located. They lived on the farm until 18?1 when they moved to Roberts. Mr. smith died August 26, 1896, and Mrs. Smith, January 18, 1916, aged 93 years, 11 months and 18 days.
