Cornelius H. Thompson
(The following obituary was sent us after the other was printed.)
Cornelius H. Thompson was born at Nanuet, New York, April 14th, 1840 and died in Kankakee, Illinois, June 15th, 1919. Aged 59 years, 2 months, 1 day.
At the age of seven he moved to Onarga, Illinois, with his parents afterwards living in Roberts with his sisters
Mrs. Tapp and Mrs. Chambers.
Of the family of nine which (?) to Illinois from New York state Mrs. Chambers is the only one now remaining.
About the age of seventeen he suffered a sunstroke from the effects of which he never recovered, and since that time he has been (?) of the asylum at Kankakee. At the time of his death he was one of the oldest inmates of the institution having been there 37 years. Always quiet and doing as he was told, hopes were often entertained that he would soon be well enough to be removed by his loved ones but never quite well enough to satisfy the officers he still remained. For several years he has been quite feeble and lately a more severe attack than usual gave warning that he would not be able to survive much longer.
He leaves to mourn his death only one sister Mrs. R. B. Chambers.
