Lydia Blesch
Miss Lydia Blesch
Miss Lydia Blesch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob B. Blesch was born at Palos, Illinois, December 19th, 1879. At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm near Roberts and grew to womanhood at this place. She was educated in the Roberts schools and later attended the Northern Indiana University at Valparaiso, Indiana. While attending school there she had an attack of illness that left her an invalid for the rest of her life.
About twenty years ago she moved from Roberts with her parents to Buckley which was her home for many years but during the few years she has been taking treatment in the hospital in Elgin where she died Friday, Mary 13th, 1927, aged 47 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
She united with the Lutheran church at the age of 15 years and later became associated with the Congregational Church and was active in church duties until her health failed.
She is survived by one brother Reynold of Redlands, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Annie McDonald of Chicago and Mrs. Clara C. Fencken of Hoopeston.
The funeral services were held Saturday, May 14th, and burial took place in Lyman Cemetery in Roberts.
Although Miss Blesch has been gone from Roberts for many years she has many friends here who remember her as a young lady of high standing in the community. She was an industrious student, of more than ordinary intelligence, an agreeable companion and one who was held in high esteem by all. Her many friends here join the family in sorrow at her death.
