Mrs. Mahala A. Newman
Mahala Agnes Newman was born on a farm southeast of Roberts, Illinois, January 11, 1865, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Gonwa, at Chrisman, Illinois, Monday, April 18th, 1927, aged 62 years, 3 months and 7 days.
Nearly all her life has been spent in and near Roberts. As a child she attended the Evangelical church. She was married to Samual S. Newman, March 7th, 1891. Mr. Newman preceded her in death seven years ago. To them were born two daughters, Mrs. Roy Fitzpatrick of Chicago and Mrs. Walter J. Gonwa of Chrisman, and one grandson Walter John Gonwa. She also leaves other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her death. She was a worthy woman who will be kindly remembered by all who knew her, kind and considerate to all and just in all her dealings.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Roberts, Wednesday afternoon, April 20th, at two o'clock, Rev. John T. Killip, pastor, officiating. The interment was in Lyman Cemetery.

Newman of Chatsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Newman of Rensselaer, Indiana, Mrs. Carl W. Newman of Urbana, Clyde King of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Roy Newman of Forrest, Mrs. E. G. Conn of Chrisman, Mrs. Clyde Hunt of Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Fitzpatrick and Mrs. J.C. Fitzpatrick of Guthrie, Mrs. Elsie Farren of Chicago.
