Irene Lucille Boyd, daughter of Horace M. and Elsie E. (Eggers) Boyd, was born near Mackinaw, Illinois, September 18, 1920, and died at her home near Roberts, Illinois, Tuesday afternoon, February 1st, 1927, at six o'clock. About four years ago she came here with her parents and since that time they have resided on a farm east of Roberts.
She has attended the Larkin School this school year and proved to be exceptionally bright in the work there. She was a general favorite with teacher and schoolmates. Her happy disposition made friends for her everywhere.
She has never been strong and has frequently had attacks of stomach trouble but until the past few weeks her condition had not been considered critical. All that medical skill and kind nursing could do was done for her but without avail.
She leaves to mourn her death her parents, one sister, Helen Marie, her grand parents Mr. and Mrs. John S. Eggers of Mackinaw, and numerous other relatives besides many friends.
"A loving one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled."
The funeral service was held at the M.E. Church at Roberts Friday, February 4th, at two o'clock, the pastor, Rev. John T. Killip officiating. The remains were then laid to rest in Lyman cemetery.
