Mrs. Matthew Havener
Maggie Schuler, daughter of Tenjus and Georgia (Georgton) Schuler, was born in Woodford County, Illinois, August 4th, 1870, and departed this life at her home near Roberts, Illinois Tuesday, February 8th, 1927, aged 56 years, 6 months, and 4 days. When a small child she came with her parents to this vicinity and has lived here since.
She was married to Matthew Havener, March 9th, 1892. To Mr. and Mrs. Havener were born four sons and one daughter, Tenjus, Frank, Matt Jr. and Imy, and Mrs. Elizabeth Turley, all of whom survive and all of whom live at Roberts. Mr. Havener died July 6, 1924.
The deceased was a woman of many time traits of character. She was an affectionate wife and mother, an excellent housekeeper, industrious, and a lover of the beauties of nature especially flowers, of which she had some beautiful specimens, a kind and charitable neighbor and a Christian woman. She was a member of the M. E. Church at Roberts.
Mrs. Havener's health has not been good for several years and she had planned to spend the present winter in California but owing to a change of plans she did not do so. She then purchased a home in Roberts and expected to move to it February 1st. Sickness prevented this and she remained on the farm where she had lived since her marriage.
Besides her children mentioned above she leaves five brothers, John of Roberts, Herman of California, George of Buckley, Imy of Galesburg and Claus of Thawville. She also leaves two grand children, June Turley and Margaret Havener. Also many other relatives and numerous friends.
The funeral serves were held at the M. E. Church in Roberts, Friday afternoon, February 11th. Rev. John T. Killip officiating. The interment was in Lyman Cemetery.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Havener and son Billie, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Havener of Champaign, Chris Havener and son and daughters Charles, Eva and Sybil, of Buckingham, Miss Lauretta Havener of Danville, Mrs. Margaret Arnold and Peter Havener of Chicago, Mrs. Lena Osborne of Gilman, John Havener of Gibson City and Edward Havener of Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wallis, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Uphoff and Mr. and Mrs. Widholm of Ashkum, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hanson of Kankakee, Mr. and Mrs. Imy Schuler and family of Galesburg, Mr. and Mrs. George Schuler and family of Buckley, and Mrs. and Mrs. Clause Schuler of Thawville.
