Mrs. John H. Shambrook
Amy Jane Huxtable, daughter of James and Elizabeth P?rkin Huxtable, was born in Tazewell county, Illinois, Saturday, September 2?, 1862, and died at her home in Roberts, Saturday, December 16, 1922, aged 60 years, 2 months and 26 days.
When a child she came with her parents to Ford County, where they lived on a farm five miles north west of Roberts. Here she grew to womanhood and here at her mother's home she was married to John H. Shambrook, Sunday, November ?, 1880. Nearly all her life has been spent in Lyman Township.
The deceased was a faithful member of the Congregational Church in Roberts where she attended services whenever her health would permit and was always ready to do her part for the upbuilding of the church and its various departmental organizations. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to any worthy cause and was a true friend to those in need. She was a member of Lyman camp 4650 Royal Neighbors of American and served the camp in official capacity for many years until her failing health prevented her attending the camp meetings.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two sons and two daughters as follows: Ulysses H. Shambrook of Roberts, Arthur Shambrook of Forrest, Mrs. Bessie LaFollet of Brimfield, and Mrs. Clarence Newman of Forrest ???? grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Frances Hahn and four brothers Thomas of Gibson City, William of Los Angeles, California, Richard of Ladysmith, Wisconsin and Arthur of Melvin and numerous other relatives and a host of friends who join the bereaved family in sorrow.
The funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Roberts Monday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. William Hainsworth pastor of the church officiating. Rev. John T. Killip pastor of the M.E. Church assisting. Lyman Camp R.N.A. conducted the services at the grave. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Thomas Huxtable and son Rawleigh of Gibson City, Richard Huxtable of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Mrs. Frances Hahn of Momence, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shambrook and family of Forrest, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newman and family of Forrest, and Mr. and Mrs. George Follett and family of Brimfield.
