Mrs. Ulysses H. Shambrook
Lena Leverenz, daughter of John and Mary J. (McIntyre) Leverenz, was born at Wellington, Illinois, September 21st, 1887, and died at her home in Roberts November 24th, 1923 aged 36 years, 2 months and 3 days.
The deceased was married to Ulysess H. Shambrook at Watseka, March 17th, 1910. She spent most of her early life in the vicinity of Watseka and since her marriage has lived near Roberts. She was a member of the Christian Church at Martinton. She was a woman of even disposition, a good neighbor and a devoted wife; one who will be missed from the home and from the neighborhood. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her husband, her father, two sisters. Mrs. Rose Keen of Watseka and Miss Minnie Leverenz of Cissna Park, and two brothers, William Leverenz of Buchanan, North Dakota, and John Leverenz of Cissna Park; also numerous other relatives and host of friends who join the family in sorrow. Her mother and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shambrook had been ailing for some time but immediate cause of her death was an operation for gall stones and the appendicitis which was followed by pulmonary embolism. She seemed to be improving rapidly until the evening before her death when she suffered a relapse which resulted in death.
The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church in Roberts Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, 1923 at two o'clock. Rev. John T. Killip, pastor of the church, officiating. The remains were than laid to rest in Lyman Cemetery.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E.A Bear of Watseka, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bear and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Bear of Martinton, John Leverenz, Miss Minnie Leverenz and John Leverenz Jr. of Cissna Park, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Keen of Watseka, Mr. and Mrs. William Leverenz of Buckannan, North Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. George LaFollett and Mrs. Forney of Brimfield, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shambrook and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newman of Forrest, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McIntyre and a number of other relatives from Hoopeston.
