Sylvia France

Sylvia France, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. France was born in Roberts, June 23rd, 1899 and died at Fort Dearborn Hospital, Chicago, between four and five o'clock Tuesday morning, November 18, 1919, aged 20 years, 4 months and 2? days.
The deceased has lived in Roberts all of her life and was well known to nearly all the Herald readers. She was of a jolly friendly disposition and made many friends who join the family in sorrow. She left Roberts three weeks ago today to take a position in a clothing store in Chicago but had an attack of appendicitis for which she underwent an operation last Saturday, November 25th. This resulted in her death as stated above.
She leaves to mourn her death, her parents, three brothers, Albert, Ralph and George, all of Roberts; and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Gerbracht of Manson, Iowa, Miss Silena France of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Mrs. Esther David of Chicago besides a great many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn with the bereaved family.
The funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church here Friday, November 21st, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. S. A. Johnson officiating. The remains will lie in state Thursday from 9:00 until 4:00 at the home.
All of the sisters and several friends from Chicago arrived in Roberts today.

Miss Sylvia France

Miss Slyvia France was born in Roberts, Illinois, June 23, 1899, and passed into her eternal rest at 3:45 o'clcok Tuesday morning, November 18th, 1919, aged 20 years, 4 months and 26 days. Miss Frances was working in Chicago and was taken suddenly ill Saturday, November 15th, and was taken to the Fort Dearborn Hospital Sunday evening. It was necessary to perform an oepration immediatley, as she was suffering with peritonitis. She revoveerd form the operation but gangrene se tin, which later caused her death. Everything possible was done for her bit it was too late.
Teh deceased was the youngest daughter of Mr. and mrs. James D. France. Besides her parents she leaves to mourn her death three sister, Edna, Sylena (?), and Esther, and three brothers, Albert, Ralph, and George. She also leaves several uncles and aunts and tother relatives.
Miss France was one of Roberts most popular young ladies, being of a pleasant and lovable nature. She leaves a large circle of friends ot mourn her death.
The fuenral service was held at the Congregational church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev, Samual A. Johnson officiating. Ther remains were laid to rest in Lyman cemetery.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. C. F. Gerbracht, Manson, Iowa; Miss Sylean France, Frot Dodge, Iowas; Mrs. Esther Davis, Chicago; sisters of the deceased; an aunt, Mrs. G.W. Poerter of Chicago; Thomas O'Donnell, and Missed Gladys Kunkle, Gertrude Hickey and Betty Lane of Chicago; Miss Mary Jensen and Roy Kightlinger of Gibson City.  --(Contributed)
