Carl W. Newman
Carl Wy??e Newman, son of Thomas E. and Isabelle (Rattcliffe) Newman, was born at Carthage, Kentucky, January 12, 1869, and died at his home in Urbana, Tuesday, August 30th, 1927, aged 58 years, 7 months and 18 days.
When he was a child he came with his parents to Roberts where he grew to manhood and where he married Miss Nora Yackee, April 12, 1893. To them were born four children, Homer who died in infancy, Marie of Hartford, Connecticut, Howard of Sterling, Colorado, and Robert at home.
In Roberts Mr. Newman conducted the meat market for many years. For three years he served as Commissioner of Highway. In 1903 the family moved to Paxton where they resided for fourteen years. They then moved to Urbana which has been their home for the past ten years.
Besides the family mentioned he leaves two brothers Harry of Renssalaer, Indiana, and Bert V. of Chatsworth. Also a host of friends who join the family in sorrow.
The funeral services were held at the home of A. A. Yackee in Roberts Friday, September 2, at two o'clock, Rev. J. O. Ferris officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Lyman Cemetery.
