Amelia Augusta Drechsel

Miss Millie Drechsel

Amelia Augusta Drechsel, daughter of Louis and Augusta (Zabel) Drechsel was born near Roberts, Illinois, May 1st, 1907, and died at the Fairview Sanitorium at Normal, Illinois, Friday morning at 9:40 o'clock July 20th, 1928, aged 21 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Miss Drechsel grew to womanhood at Roberts. She graduated from the district schools and had practically completed the course in the Roberts High School in the class of 1926 but just before the time for graduation was stricken with tuberculosis. She received all the care that could be given and it was thought that she had recovered but there was a relapse and all the attention bestowed was of no avail.
The deceased was a young lady of exceptionally fine qualities. She was generous and kind to all. Attentive to the needs of others and always thinking more of the happiness of her friends than of herself. During the past two years she has made her home with her aunt Mrs. George Richardson in Chicago when not in the hospital for treatment.
She has a large circle of friends here who join the family in sorrow. She leaves to mourn her death her father, two brothers, Frank and Elmer Drechsel, seven uncles, Christian Drechsel of Roberts, August Drechsel of Melvin, Adolph Drechsel of Onarga, William Drechsel of Chicago, Otto Zabel and Edward Zabel of Paxton and Albert Zabel of Roberts; three aunts, Mrs. Gorge Richardson of Chicago, Mrs. Fred Rueck Sr. of Roberts, and Mrs. George Dietterle of Roberts. Her mother preceded her in death January 20th, 1926.
The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon July 22nd at 2:00 o'clock and at the M. E. Church in Roberts, at 2:30 o'clock Rev. C. A. Sullivan officiating. This was one of the largest funerals ever held in Roberts. The remains were then laid to rest in Lyman Cemetery.
